Belarus initiates recognition in the UN of the International Association of Permanent Representatives31.01.2018
The draft joint Belarus-Honduras resolution on the recognition in the UN system of the role of the International Association of Permanent Representatives to the United Nations was presented at the UN Headquarters in New York. The resolution is planned for adoption at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.
International Association of Permanent Representatives to the United Nations was founded in New York in 1988. The objectives of the Association are to serve as a forum between former and current Permanent Representatives to the UN, to liaise between them and to be a focal point for their participation in the activities of various international institutions and fora.
Currently, it comprises as its members of more than 200 former and active heads of Missions to the UN.
The initiative was presented by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus, member of the Association Andrei Dapkiunas, as well as by the President of the Association, Permanent Representative of Honduras to the UN Mary Elizabeth Flores Flake. The event was attended by Permanent Representatives to the UN, the UN high-ranking officials.
