Participation of V. Rybakov in the UN discussion on human trafficking issue

During his visit to the United Nations Headquarters Deputy Foreign Minister V. Rybakov has participated as a keynote speaker in the roundtable “Preparing for 2017 Review of the Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons: How to Bring Partners and Ideas Together?”.

 In accordance with United Nations General Assembly resolution 70/179 “Improving the coordination of efforts against trafficking in persons”, which is submitted by Belarus, the UN General Assembly decided to convene in October 2017 a high-level meeting to review the Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons in order to assess the main challenges in combating human trafficking.

The event was convened by the initiative of Belarus on behalf of the Group of Friends United against Human Trafficking. Austria, Hungary and Liechtenstein, as well as the International Labour Organization also co-organized the event.

In his statement, Deputy Minister outlined the vision of Belarus regarding a high-level meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on the review of the Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons. V. Rybakov informed about the initiatives of Belarus in the international arena on this issue.
