Delegation of Belarus participates in the United Nations Population Fund’s (UNFPA) segment during the second regular session of the Executive Board of the United Nations Development Program / United Nations Population Fund / United Nations Office for Project Services (UNDP /UNFPA / UNOPS).

The second regular session of the UNDP / UNFPA / UNOPS Executive Board will be held at the UN Headquarters on September 4-7, 2018 and will be the last session in the current year. The session will be devoted to financial issues of the activities of UNSDS operational bodies, as well as to the implementation of the UNGA resolution on the repositioning of the UN development system.

In her speech (in Russian), Deputy head of the Belarusian Mission to the UN Irina Velichko welcomed positive financial results of the Fund's activities in the previous program period and expressed hope for preservation of these tendencies in the current program period, while taking into account the ongoing process of repositioning of  the UN development system.

At the same time, I. Velichko noted concern about the ongoing reduction of UNFPA's regular resources. The Deputy Permanent Representative stressed the need for new approaches in the systemic work of the Fund to minimize the decline in the actual level of regular contributions.

I. Velichko also informed participants of the session about some events of the UNFPA office in Belarus, in particular about information campaign on the issues of combating domestic violence.
