A. Dapkiunas met with UNFPA’s regional director

During a visit to the UN Headquarters Deputy Minister Andrei Dapkiunas met with Alanna Armitage, Director of UNFPA’s Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

The interlocutors discussed preparations for the Regional Forum of National Coordinators for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Minsk, in which A. Armitage would also take part.

Regional SDG Coordination Leaders Forum “Building a Partnership to Underpin National Sustainable Development Solutions” will be held in Minsk on February 21-22 this year. The forum is the first ever international event on exchange of SDGs’ implementation practice for joint search for optimal ways of sustainable growth and coordinated counteraction to global challenges and threats.

The Deputy Foreign Minister proposed more active cooperation with UNFPA to disseminate positive Belarusian experience in demographic sphere.

A. Armitage, in turn, noted constructive level of cooperation between Belarus and UNFPA and suggested holding a joint international conference on family policies.

The parties agreed to continue active cooperation in the field of population in the framework of national interests of Belarus.
