V.Makei meets UN Secretary-General A.Guterres and participates in other events

On October 4, 2018 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Makei met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to the repositioning of the development system, reforms of and peace and security pillar in the context of the implementation of Agenda — 2030.

Belarusian Side expressed its support for the UN Secretary-General's initiatives “Youth 2030” and “Generation Unlimited" designed to help young people in providing quality education and decent job. From his part, A. Guterres highly appreciated the active work of Belarus in the Organisation, in particular, in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and maintaining regional security.

The head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry conveyed to the UN Secretary-General an invitation from the President of the Republic of Belarus A. Lukashenko to pay an official visit to Belarus, and also to take part in the opening ceremony of the II European Games, which will be held in June 2019.

As part of his stay in the United States, V.Makei met with the President of the World Jewish Congress Ronald Lauder.
