Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN A. Dapkiunas meets UN Under-Secretary-General C. Pollard
07.03.2017In the Permanent Mission of Belarus to the United Nations in New York on March 6, Andrei Dapkiunas, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations, met with Catherine Pollard, United Nations UN Under-Secretary-General for General Assembly and Conference Services.
During the meeting, issues of further improvement of cooperation between the United Nations Secretariat and Missions of the United Nations Member States were discussed, including within the framework of the Working Group on the Revitalisation of the United Nations General Assembly.
The interlocutors also exchanged information on organisation in the near future by the Secretariat of the United Nations of the first in New York conference of universities that train interpreters for the United Nations system (including with the participation of the Minsk State Linguistic University), and on the initiative of Belarus on honouring the role and place in the diplomatic profession, including in the United Nations system, of translation, as well as of the work of the people who create it – professional interpreters and translators.
