On the participation of V. Rybakov in the thematic event on combating trafficking in human beings

On March 18, 2019, on the margins of the 63rd session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the UN Valentin Rybakov took part as a special guest in the thematic event «Addressing vulnerability: collaborative approaches to trafficking prevention through a human rights lens», which was organized by a coalition of international non-governmental organizations working in the field of combating trafficking in persons.

In his statement, the head of the Belarusian mission stressed the role and potential of the UN Global Plan of action against Trafficking in Persons as the first universal document, aimed at protecting victims of human trafficking.

V. Rybakov also noted the growing role of private sector and non-governmental organizations in the prevention of human trafficking, stressing the need to strengthen partnerships among all stakeholders, including to ensure and protect the rights of victims of trafficking.

The Belarusian diplomat informed participants about the intention of Belarus to introduce at the 74th session of the UN GA the draft of the traditional Belarusian resolution on improving the coordination of efforts against trafficking in persons.

During the event a practical guide for governments and civil society for prevention of trafficking in persons for sexual exploitation was presented.
