Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Valentin Rybakov meets the American newspaper photographer
27.01.2017On January 26, 2017, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Valentin Rybakov met with the American newspaper photographer, the author of the photo exhibition “Chernobyl: the tragedy, lessons, hope”, organized by Belarus in April, 2016 in the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Philip Grossman.
The Belarusian diplomat thanked the interlocutor for his dedicated work in raising awareness of the American public and the world community on the long-term consequences of the Chernobyl disaster.
V.Rybakov informed P.Grossman of the proclamation by the UN General Assembly 26 April as International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day and of Belarus’ plans for the first commemoration if this day in 2017.
The sides discussed joint steps for the organization of a photo exhibition dedicated to Chernobyl in the UN Headquarters in April 2017 where new photo materials from the last trip of P.Grossman to the affected areas of the Gomel region in November 2016 can be displayed.
