Permanent Representative of Belarus participates in the special event of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation
22.11.2016On November 22, 2016, a special event on collaboration between the United Nations and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation took place at the UN Headquarters in New York.
Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Andrei Dapkiunas took part in the meeting by the invitation of the Secretary-General of the SCO and to the Kazakhstan chairmanship.
In his statement, the Belarusian diplomat underlined the importance of partnerships between the UN and regional organisations, be it the field of economic integration or security. As an observer in the SCO Belarus is eager to develop relations in various fields of the organisation’s activities, including sustainable development, security, humanitarian and cultural cooperation.
In line of the concept of “integration of integrations” earlier put forward by the President of Belarus, Andrei Dapkiunas noted the importance of establishing the links between the SCO and other important organisations of the Eurasian region, including the Eurasian Economic Union and the Collective Security Treaty Organization Organisation.
