Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Belarus to the UN takes part in the regional session of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development
12.07.2018On July 12, 2018 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Belarus to the UN Irina Velichko took part in the session of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development dedicated to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the regions.
Heads of the UN regional commissions, including the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Olga Algayerova participated in the discussion.
The Belarusian diplomat noted the important role of UNECE in providing sustainability at the national level, and, in particular, annual Regional Forum on Sustainable Development, which is a unique platform for sharing the best practices of the countries of the region in achieving the SDGs.
In her speech, I. Velichko presented the main results of the Regional Forum of Sustainable Development Goals Coordinators “Building a Partnership to Underpin National Sustainable Development Solutions”, which was held in February 2018 in Minsk, and called for the development of cooperation at the regional level to achieve the SDGs.
The Chargé d'Affaires invited the UNECE to engage in establishing a network of national SDGs coordinators to share experience and best practices.
