Deputy Chair of the National Statistical Committee E. Kukharevich takes part in the High-Level Political Forum
14.07.2017Deputy Chair of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus Elena Kukharevich takes part in the delegation of Belarus in the High-level Political Forum of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
E. Kukharevich spoke during the discussion on the topic “Leveraging interlinkages for effective implementation of SDGs”, where an exchange of views on best practices in the use of statistics in the context of sustainable development goals took place.
The Belarusian delegate noted the coordinating role of the National Statistical Committee in the organisation at the national level of monitoring the implementation of the goals of sustainable development.
The Deputy Chair of the National Statistical Committee drew attention to the problems faced by the statistical office and data producers in this regard.
E. Kukharevich suggested to the United Nations to replace the indicators for which there is no methodology for indicators reflecting the context of global problems.
The representative of Belarus urged international experts to assist in the development of recommendations for creating a reporting platform on the sustainable development goals and disseminating best practices that contribute to the spread of information.
