Delegation of Belarus participates in the First Committee of the UN General Assembly

The First Committee of the 72nd  session of the UN General Assembly dealing with disarmament and international security has started its work at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

The Deputy Head of the International Security and Arms Control Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Nikolay Ovsyanko takes part in the Committee’s work.

During the general discussion of the Committee the Belarusian delegation made a statement and presented the position of the Republic of Belarus on the main issues of the international agenda in the field of disarmament and non-proliferation.

During the statement Nikolay Ovsyanko noted that the delegation of Belarus is planning to submit for consideration of the First Committee of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly a draft resolution on the prohibition of new types of weapons of mass destruction and called for the adoption of the resolution on a consensus basis.
