Belarus participates in the first regular session of the Executive Board of UNICEF

Belarus participates in the first regular session of the Executive Board of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) which takes place at the UN Headquarters in New York on February 5-7, this year.

In his statement (in Russian) on the first day of the session, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Valentin Rybakov welcomed UNICEF’s efforts in repositioning the UN development system. In particular, the Head of the Belarusian Mission noted Fund’s leadership in the issues of private partnership and data on SDGs at the country level.

In the context of preparations for the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, V. Rybakov informed about an international conference on children and SDGs that is planned to be held in Minsk this year.

The Ambassador of Belarus commended the work of the Fund’s country office and the level of interaction with UNICEF in general. V. Rybakov also expressed appreciation for the constructive cooperation with Dr. Rashed Mustafa Sarvar, UNICEF Representative in the country, Ambassador of the II European Games, which will be held in Minsk on June 21-30 this year.

The Head of the Belarusian Diplomatic Mission in New York stressed that Belarus considered sport as one of the effective ways of social inclusion which allowed to ensure full inclusion of children with disabilities in the society.

V. Rybakov invited session’s participants to visit Minsk and to join the most important sport event of this year.
