Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations V.Rybakov meets the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN

On March 5, 2018 Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the United Nations Valentin Rybakov met with UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed. The meeting took place after A. Mohammed’s visit to Belarus to participate in the Regional Sustainable Development Goals Coordination Leaders Forum, held in Minsk on February 21-22, 2018.

The UN Deputy Secretary General expressed satisfaction with the course and results of her visit to Minsk and participation in the Forum. The interlocutor highly appreciated the initiative of Belarus to establish a partnership network of national SDG coordinators and noted the support of the UN Secretariat for this new format of partnership. A. Mohammed mentioned her visit to the Republican Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children in Minsk, expressing the opinion that the experience of its creation and activities deserves to be shared.

V. Rybakov expressed gratitude to A. Mohammed for her participation in the Forum in Minsk and assured of Belarus’ intention to continue cooperation with countries of the region for their involvement in the implementation of the Belarusian initiative.

The parties outlined further joint steps for dissemination of the results of the Forum and for practical assistance of the UN Secretariat in establishing the partnership network of national SDG coordinators.
