On the event dedicated to the 75th Anniversary of Liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders

On 24 June 2019, a commemorative event dedicated to the 75th Anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders was held at the UN Headquarters in New York on the initiative of the Permanent Mission of Belarus to the UN.

The event was attended by the leadership and staff of the Permanent Missions of the UN Member States, the UN Secretariat, representatives of the Belarusian diaspora, media representatives.

The event was opened by Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Valentin Rybakov, who noted the importance of preserving the memory and historical truth about the war.

The head of the Belarusian mission drew the attention of the participants of the event to the address of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, to United Nations Member States on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, which was distributed in the room. The address will be subsequently circulated as an official document of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly in all official UN languages.

The event was followed by a screening of the film “Brest Fortress” (directed by A.Kott), which, on the basis of real facts, tells about the tragic events of the beginning of the war and the heroic defense of the Brest Fortress by soldiers of the Red Army.
