Deputy Minister Valentin Rybakov meets with Canada’s Parliamentary Secretary for Development

On May 22, 2017, during his visit to New York, Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Valentin Rybakov held a meeting with Canada’s Parliamentary Secretary for Development Ms Celina Caesar-Chavannes.

The sides discussed the issues of practical work at the United Nations in the context of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Addis Abeba Action Agenda concerning financing for development.

The Belarusian diplomat briefed the interlocutor on the priorities of Belarus in the sphere of development and the country's key approaches to financing development. The Deputy Minister informed Ms Celina Caesar-Chavannes on the preparation of Belarus for the national reviews on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at the high-level political forum on sustainable development, which will be held under the auspices of ECOSOC in July this year. In particular V.Rybakov noted the establishment of the office of the National Coordinator on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Belarus and the country’s intention to involve the widest possible range of stakeholders in this process.

The sides also discussed the preparations for the OSCE PA session to be held in Minsk in June this year.
