Belarus takes part at the annual session of the UNICEF Executive Board

Belarus participates at the annual session of the Executive Board of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), which was opened on June 11 at the UN Headquarters in New York and will last until June 14 this year.

In her speech (statement in Russian) on the first day of the session, Deputy Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Irina Velichko positively assessed the results of UNICEF activities in 2017, particularly noting a previous year's increase in total resources by 27% compared to 2016, as well as increase in regular resources by 8% up to $1.5 million.

The Deputy Head of the Belarusian Mission supported the Fund's efforts to find new partners, both to improve fiscal resilience of the organization and to introduce new technologies to protect children's rights and interests.

I. Velichko outlined full support of Belarus for the UNICEF activities to protect rights and interests of children with disabilities. The Belarusian diplomat informed that in order to attract additional attention to this issue, the first international conference, that united countries of Europe and Central Asia in the issues of early intervention for children with disabilities, was held in Minsk on June 5-6 this year. The Deputy Permanent Representative expressed  gratitude to UNICEF and to the Russian Federation for their assistance in organizing this event.
