Belarus takes part in the UN Security Council Open Debate

Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations Valentin Rybakov took part in the UN Security Council Open Debate dedicated to strengthening the principles of multilateralism in maintaining international peace and security.

The discussion was chaired by the People’s Republic of China and touched upon a number of current problems and challenges our world is facing today such as effectiveness of the UN system in addressing emerging conflicts, the role of collective action in maintaining stability and security and ways to overcome the “crisis of confidence” between countries.

Valentin Rybakov called (statement in Russian) on states to strictly follow the principles of multilateralism in international relations, which is a prerequisite of mutual understanding and respect, and also emphasized the contribution of the Republic of Belarus to maintenance of regional security, including through facilitation of the negotiation process on resolving the crisis in the South-East of Ukraine.
