V.Rybakov meets UN Under-Secretary-General C. Pollard
23.05.2017At the UN Headquarters in New York on May 23, Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus V. Rybakov met UN Under-Secretary-General for UN General Assembly Affairs and Conference Management Catherine Pollard.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of further interaction between the UN Secretariat and the Missions of the UN member states through the working group on revitalisation of the UN General Assembly. In particular, V. Rybakov highly appreciated the personal role of C. Pollard in coordinating the work of the UN Secretariat on this issue, and noted that C. Pollard may be set an example for other officials of the Secretariat.
The Belarusian diplomat thanked the UN Under-Secretary-General for her assistance in promoting the Belarus-Azerbaijan initiative to honor the role of professional translation and language professionals in the UN system, and invited C. Pollard to attend the General Assembly meeting on May 24 at which the relevant resolution on professional translation will be adopted.
