  • 12.12.2017 Belarus organises presentation of the “Power of One” awards The ceremony of presenting “The Power of One” awards was held at the UN Headquarters on December 11 to commemorate the issuance of the Diwali Stamp by the United States Postal Service. The event was organised by the Permanent Missions of Belarus, Georgia and India to the UN.
  • 28.11.2017 UN General Assembly adopted the resolution on cooperation with middle-income countries On November 28, the Second Committee (economic and financial issues) of the UN General Assembly adopted by consensus the resolution “Cooperation for development with middle-income countries”. The delegation of Belarus took an active part in elaboration of the resolution.
  • 28.11.2017 Participation of the Belarusian delegation in the Executive Board special session of UNDP / UNFPA / UNOPS A special session of the Executive Board of the United Nations Development Program / United Nations Population Fund / the UN Office for Project Services (UNDP / UNFPA / UNOPS) was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. During the session two main UNDP policy documents were adopted for the next four-year period – the strategic plan and the integrated budget and resources.

Irina Velichko, Deputy Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations made a statement at the first debate during the current session on the issue of revitalisation of work of the UN General Assembly.

  • 10.11.2017 Belarusian delegation made a statement at UN GA on the IAEA report The UN General Assembly considered the annual report of the International Atomic Energy Agency. Speaking at the UN GA plenary meeting representative of the Belarusian delegation Ms Tatyana Fedorovich expressed full support for the IAEA's work in all major areas: safeguards, promotion of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, safety and security.

  • 03.11.2017 Belarusian delegation participates in presenting a HRC’s annual report The Human Rights Council submitted an annual report on its activities for the consideration of the UN General Assembly. Deputy Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Irina Velichko briefed about the Belarus' approaches to the activities of the HRC.
  • 02.11.2017 Belarusian delegation takes part in the work of the UN GA Fourth Committee The Fourth Committee of the UN General Assembly (special political and decolonization issues) continues its work at the UN Headquarters in New York. During the discussion on the agenda item «Effects of Atomic Radiation», representative of Belarusian delegation Tatyana Fedorovich expressed support to the Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR) and noted the importance of continuing international cooperation in studying the effects of atomic radiation on human health and environment.
  • 01.11.2017 Belarus participates in the dialogue with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees The interactive dialogue with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees was held as part of the work of the Third Committee of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly Deputy Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations I. Velichko stressed a particular relevance and significance of UNHCR’s mandate in the current global situation characterized by a sharp increase in displaced people around the world.
