First commemoration of the International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day

On April 26, 2017, the first commemoration of the International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day took place in the United Nations headquarters in New York.

The International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day was declared by the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly “Persistent Legacy of the Chernobyl disaster”, initiated by Belarus and adopted in December 2016.

In commemoration of the first International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day, the Permanent Mission of Belarus to the UN in collaboration with relevant Permanent Missions, UN agencies and NGOs organised two events (please, click below).
